The Legislative Assembly Committee on Transport and Infrastructure is currently holding an Inquiry into the Sydney Metro West Project. I urged the Committee to address the significant transport infrastructure deficit at Green Square by recommending that Sydney Metro West is extended eastwards to Zetland as soon as possible.
By 2036, the Green Square area will have approximately 63,000 residents and up to 22,000 workers – among the highest densities in Australia for a renewal area of this size.
The Green Square heavy rail was never intended to be used for the huge population of residents at Green Square, and it's already at capacity. There needs to be more public transport for this rapidly growing community, and alternatives to Metro will be even more costly and cumbersome.
