  • Contract approved to install low-energy LEDs on 6,500 Council owned street lights, following 18 month trial.
  • Kent Street bike route completed which connects Pyrmont with the Harbour Bridge and the Bourke Street cycleway from Woolloomooloo to Waterloo.
  • Comprehensive renewal to Rushcutters Bay Park completed, creating more open space and more trees, a new kiosk and facilities, revitalised tennis courts and a restored Reg Bartley Oval and grandstand.
  • Prince Alfred Park renewed with a meadow, barbeques, playground, running and walking circuit, exercise areas, five tennis courts, two basketball courts and a half court (with the pool reopening 2013).
  • Revitalisation of small parks and playgrounds including Lillian Fowler Reserve (Newtown); Rochford Street playground, Kirsova 2 Playground, Flora & Knight Reserve, Green Bans Park (Erskineville), and Bourke Street and Walla Mulla reserves (Woolloomooloo).
  • New planning controls adopted for Harold Park urban renewal site which provide for residential development, including affordable housing, while reserving more than a third of the site as public open space, and with connection to Glebe foreshore resulting in 27.5 hectares of continuous open space once we have finished the parkland around the new skatepark.
  • Finegrain Business Development Program enabled cafes, small bars and a shirt shop in hidden spaces such as Reiby Place, York Lane, Alberta Street, Market Row and Sussex Lane.
  • Barani/Barrabugu (Yesterday/Tomorrow) published with information on more than 60 important Aboriginal sites across the City and launched with the help of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Panel.
