  • Design Advisory Panel established to achieve design excellence and guide work both on city projects and private development.
  • Local Action Plans adopted and implementation begins.
  • Major public works completed including, a
    • Stage 4 extension of Glebe foreshore walk,
    • Barcom Avenue Park in Darlinghurst/Paddington,
    • $16 million revitalisation of Redfern and Regent Streets, and the
    • $40 million Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre
  • Cycling strategy endorsed, including a network of separated cycleways with an initial $35 million allocated.
  • Late Night Trading DCP prepared and adopted to better manage the impacts of late trading premises.
  • City becomes Australia’s first carbon-neutral council (independently certified 2011).
  • Community campaign for small bars legislation which eventuated in the Liquor Amendment (Small Bars and Restaurants) Bill 2007.
